Good to hear you have things worked out. Glad we have insurance through Steve's retirement even if it is our major expense. We've been hearing great things about the area of South Dakota we'll be in this summer. Look forward to riding!Steve and Joanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12927370922980855949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9203253684457030119.post-15278605827117700892014-02-23T20:46:26.927-05:002014-02-23T20:46:26.927-05:00thanks Dale,

This is very similar to what they do now. I have been following this closely and will continue to do so and am very confidant that the Escapees Club is representing our concerns to the politicians and there will be accommodations made for RVers to renew their registrations out of state and get inspections when re-entering Texas. Are you aware that Texas has a new law which goes into effect March 2015 that will affect registration and inspection of vehicles? They will no longer have multi-year registrations and you will be required to have your vehicle inspected before you can get your tags. It is causing a big uproar on Escapees because inspections were never "required" if you were traveling. . . just had to get it done when you happened to return. Now you won't be able to renew your plates till you have that inspection and it must be done yearly. There is a thread going on in the RV Action forum. You may already be aware, but for some fulltimers, they will have to change their domicile because of the inspection/registration requirements. Just wanted to give you a heads up.Dalehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13037691941315467872noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9203253684457030119.post-4796438260912138942014-02-23T19:33:01.782-05:002014-02-23T19:33:01.782-05:00You almost make gate-guarding sound as if I would ...You almost make gate-guarding sound as if I would do it...:-). I would have chosen TX if we didn't have the house in FL. Sounds like some reasonable thinking to me!Al and Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02991509802471213755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9203253684457030119.post-58487218066652613412014-02-23T19:01:08.189-05:002014-02-23T19:01:08.189-05:00Thanks for sharing your experience with the Exchan...Thanks for sharing your experience with the Exchange and BCBS TX. We are currently privately insured with good policies, but they are cancelled and premiums for replacement policies through the private sector are skyrocketing and simply no longer affordable. So . . . looks like I'll be navigating the Federal Exchange before long. As Texas residents, I'm looking at a BCBS Multi-State plan, which should give us coverage outside Texas. This entire thing irritates the heck outta me. Grrrrr. I felt pretty betrayed when Sanford told me the same thing, took my money and then canceled us. The good thing is Texas and Florida are still options for you if they do the same thing Sanford did. We were "this close" to switching domicile when Avera changed their policy and decided covering full timers with a whole plethora of in network doctors outside of South Dakota. Thank God for Kyle Henson :-) Still waiting on our interview from Amazon. Hoping we can start right after Labor Day or we'll need to make some more plans!owensontheroadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12076915620668491771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9203253684457030119.post-85168908655857251032014-02-23T07:10:04.590-05:002014-02-23T07:10:04.590-05:00We recently went through the process here in Fl fo...We recently went through the process here in Fl for the reasons you cited. Even though I have a CCW license in GA I completed the FL application and turned it in this week. You are right on about changing addresses being a time consuming task. Judy has been working for almost a month consolidating all our bank accounts to just one bank. It appears that ya'll have the rest of this year mapped out. Hope all goes well.Jim and Judyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16732286952156592861noreply@blogger.com
